It is everyone’s business to care enough to have serious and empathetic conversations about mental health and wellness. Developed by St. John Ambulance in collaboration with mental health field leaders, this course is designed to address and promote mental health wellness and reduce stigma in work places. This 7-hour peer support-based course prepares participants with the necessary skills, confidence, and knowledge to better identify and guide others who may be experiencing mental health challenges or illnesses including depression, anxiety, and suicidal thoughts. This course is designed for peer support in the workplace and is not intended to be a substitute or replacement for clinical or professional help.
Course Content:
How to identify when a co-worker is in distress relating to a mental health injury
How to initiate a conversation with a co-worker about the status of their mental health
Develop an understanding about where someone is on the SJA Mental Health and Wellness continuum
A step-by-step process to build confidence and skill to approach someone in distress
