As an HR professional or business manager, have you ever led a meeting or brainstorming session and felt that it could have been more effective? Do you work with multi-stakeholder groups where you need to get results without authority? Would you like to get better outcomes from focused conversations?
This 2.5 day training program will provide you with solid facilitation skills that you can use in any meeting, focus group, or conversation to reach an effective outcome. You will add skills to your toolbox that will increase your value and confidence as an HR professional. As a bonus, this training is the prerequisite for further facilitation training with ICA.
Why is facilitation training useful?
HR Professionals take on many complicated conversations in the contemporary workforce including leading cross-organization initiatives, focus groups, engaging with EDI programs, rolling out tech platforms and leading difficult conversations.
HR is often called upon to exercise “authority without a title”, and facilitation skills can provide structure and confidence to make this more effective.
Leading complex conversations is easier when you have a framework for designing and leading them so that you can explore a topic from surface to depth. You can support the group to tap into the wisdom and diversity in the room, think clearly and make better decisions.
The methods come to us from The Institute of Cultural Affairs (ICA) and have been in use for more than 50 years. Modern neuroscience fully backs up these methods, which were developed before we had the corroborating brain science.
Why does Psychological Safety matter?
Psychological safety is an enabler for any group dynamic. In this half day discussion you will learn what it is, why it matters, and how it can be lost. You’ll learn behaviours and tools to grow and strengthen psychological safety in the groups you facilitate
Learning Objectives:
Learn the focused conversation method and the consensus workshop method
Develop skills to explore a subject with a group from surface to depth
Know how to tap into the diversity and expertise within a group
Be able to lead large groups through a collaborative process to consensus-based decisions
Become more confident in your ability to lead group discussions
